چکیده
In this paper, we will first take assess of 25 years of interactive real-time music, and introduce the problem of preservation of this music for the future generations, that is to say its ability to be re-performed, and not only to preserve the recordings. We present the state of the art in the field of active preservation of real-time works. We then give an overview of the solutions developed by IRCAM and its partners Grame, Armines ParisTech and CIEREC, in the framework of the ASTREE project, and explain the possibilities envisioned in a case study that is En Echo by

Towards a Taxonomy of Realtime Interfaces for Electronic Music Performance
This paper presents a discussion regarding organology classification and taxonomies for digital musical instruments (DMI), arising from the TIEM (Taxonomy of Interfaces for Electronic Music performance) survey (http://tiem.emf.org/), conducted as part of an Australian Research Council Linkage project titled “Performance Practice in New Interfaces for Realtime Electronic Music Performance”. This...
متن کاملDesigning Virtual Instruments for Computer Music
This paper is about how to create virtual musical instruments. Virtual instruments have a wide variety of usages and vary from digitizing audio samples of real instruments and recreating brand new virtual instruments that do not exist. Virtual instruments help music composers to compose music more easily and quickly, they also provide composers with new ideas and concepts for traditional music ...
متن کاملInvestigating the Effect of Music on Spatial Learning in a Virtual Reality Task
Background: Spatial learning and navigation is a fundamental cognitive ability consisting of multiple cognitive components. Despite intensive efforts conducted with the assistance of virtual reality technology and functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) modality, the music effect on this cognition and the involved neuronal mechanisms remain elusive. Objectives: We aimed to investigate the...
متن کاملTech report: Orchestrating your cloud orchestra: Model driven development of cloud deployment and orchestration for distributed computer music instruments
Cloud computing potentially ushers in a new era of computer music performance with exceptionally large computer music instruments consisting of 10s to 100s of virtual machines called a Cloud Orchestra. Cloud computing allows for the rapid provisioning of resources, but to deploy such a complicated and interconnected network of software synthesizers in the cloud requires a lot of manual work, sy...
متن کاملFMOL: Toward User-Friendly, Sophisticated New Musical Instruments
The design of new instruments and controllers for performing live computer music is an exciting field of research that can lead to truly new musicmaking paradigms. The ever-increasing availability of sensing technologies that enable virtually any kind of physical gesture to be detected and tracked has indeed sprouted a wealth of experimental instruments and controllers with which to explore new...
